train travel and public transport It is possible to get here and to enjoy a holiday without a car, but it requires planning as where we live is pretty remote.
From Paris you can get to Toulouse by train (TGV) and from Toulouse you can take a more local train/coach service (TER) as far as St Girons, which is our nearest small town about 25 kms away. From St Girons there is an infrequent bus service which comes up the valley, or there are taxis available at the place where the coach pulls in.
Once you are here, it is quite remote and although there is a bus service it is not frequent or comprehensive. You really have to enjoy walking, or be prepared to hire a bike. Hitch-hiking is frequent and well accepted in the valley and people hitch hike with no problems, but it depends how confident you may feel about doing it. Having said that, there is plenty to explore on foot from the doorstep, so a car is not essential.
